What We Did

Building on the success of the Coast To Coast in 2006, after bandying about routes through Vietnam, China, and most of Eastern Europe, we decided by a majority vote to do the Walney to Wear route in June 2007. more

Build Up - January to June 2007

Preparation is underway.

Day Zero - Thursday 21st June 2007

Consett to Barrow in Furness, 130 miles in a couple of hours, travelling with 40 illegal immigrants.

Day One - Friday 22nd June 2007

Walney Island to Tebay (approx. distance 59 miles). Frequent hills. 0 crashes, 1 trip to Halfords, 1 camera killed. Weather was patchy rain and sunshine.

Ascent: 5243 feet
Descent: 4611 feet

Day Two - Saturday 23rd June 2007

Tebay to Barnard Castle (approx. distance 42 miles). 1 big climb to Tan Hill, 1 crash, no trips to Halfords, 1 camera resurrection. Weather occasional rain and sunshine.

Ascent: 3711 feet
Descent: 3802 feet

Day Three - Sunday 24th June 2007

Barnard Castle to Roker (approx. distance 52 miles). Regular climbs even though it was a general decent. 0 crashes, no trips to Halfords. Weather intermittant showers

Ascent: 3509 feet
Descent: 4050 feet
