A separate set of training tips is on the Journey Tips page.

    Routes

As most of the people come from around Consett, the training routes naturally have a Consett bias. Other routes, including the much dreamed about Houghton to Hartlepool and back route may be added in the future. The training routes shown here have a large map on each page so please be patient while the file loads.

    County Durham

    King Of The Hills

    Derwent Valley Walk

    Rookhope

Edmundbyers and Blanchland - up to Slaley Forest over the moors.

    Tyne and Wear

    Five Card Stud

    Northumberland

Source Of the Coquet - Rothbury to the Scottish Borders

    Elsdon Gibbet Loop

Otterburn - A series of excellent maps is available in various tea rooms and other touristy places in northumberland, and also online. Access to certain areas of the ranges is limited, check here for firing times.

    Other Cycle Routes

A series of excellent up to date (as at 2008) cycle maps have been produced by the councils in the region. These maps detail cycle friendly routes from North Tyneside right down to Durham and are available for free by emailing your local council (See links from North Tyneside Council)

If you're interested in other cycle routes in Durham, the council provide some very nice free Cycle Maps for Durham North (From the Tyne down to Peterlee, Consett over to Seaham), Durham South (Peterlee down to Stockton, Bishop Auckland to Hartlepool) and Durham West (Tow Law down to Barnard Castle, Eggleston over to Bishop Auckland).

Sunderland Council also produce a free cycle map which is also available online. Don't forget Sunderland Council can also provide hard copies of the new modern maps for free

    Local Weather

Let's see if it's worth going out for a ride, or commuting on bike in the next 3 days...
